전도유망한 건설업자인 마티아는 그의 경력에 있어 가장 큰 계약을 마무리할 참이다. 그런데 불법으로 고용한 카말이 공사현장에서 추락해 큰 부상을 입고 고소를 하겠다고 협박하면서 마티아는 곤경에 빠진다. 카말이 요구하는 것은 마티아가 자신을 대신해 상급 페이스트리 수업에 나가는 것. 카말은 페이스트리 가게를 열 꿈을 안고 이집트에서 이탈리아로 왔고, 그 수업의 수료증이 꼭 필요하기 때문이다. 결국, 마티아는 카말을 대신해 수업에 나가 그인 척 연기를 할 수밖에 없는데….
